IMAX and Warner Bros. will simultaneously release "V For Vendetta" to IMAX and conventional theatres March 17.
Produced by Joel "Lethal Weapon" Silver and the Wachowski Brothers of Matrix fame, "V For Vendetta" is directed by James McTeigue, starring Natalie "Star Wars" Portman.
Premise revolves around a shadowy freedom fighter known as 'V', who uses sabatoge to challenge a totalitarian society. After rescuing an innocent girl from the secret police, he finds an ally and new love.
Portman plays 'Evey Hammond', Hugo Weaving is 'V', Stephen Rea is 'Finch' and John Hurt is 'Sutler'.
The film will be digitally re-mastered through IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology, with Warner Bros. Pictures the exclusive distributor to IMAX theatres worldwide.
The addition of "V For Vendetta" now gives IMAX five digitally re-mastered Hollywood films, including two in IMAX 3D, scheduled to be released day-and-date to IMAX theatres throughout 2006.

Produced by Joel "Lethal Weapon" Silver, and "Matrix" creators Andy and Larry Wachowski, "V FOR VENDETTA" is directed by James McTeigue, noted as first assistant director on the "Matrix" trilogy.
Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, "V FOR VENDETTA" focuses on a young woman 'Evey' (Natalie Portman) rescued from a life-and-death situation by the masked vigilante 'V'.
Skilled in the art of combat and deception, 'V' ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks, taking over government-controlled airwaves and urging citizens to rise up against their oppressors.
As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself, emerging as an unlikely ally in the culmination of a plot to bring freedom and justice to a corrupt society.
The screenplay by the Wachowskis is based on DC Comics' 1988 ten-part series "V For Vendetta" by writer Alan "The Watchmen" Moore and illustrator David Lloyd.
A UK-German co-production between Warner Bros. and Funfte Babelsberg Film GmbH, "V FOR VENDETTA" filmed on location in Berlin and the UK.
